"Teenagers need their black"-FengShui in 10 Simple Lessons

As FengShui author Jane Butler-Biggs explains, "teens need thier black". It feeds thier transformation and since transform they must, I shall incorporate black into my website color scheme. They also tend to go for bright reds and other garish colors because, "fire energy lights the way forward". Okay by me, I'll splash some of them on the page too. I need to think about using a black background which I really don't want to do, or accessorizing the page with black in some other ways. Kind of like graphic throw pillows. As for the garish colors, perhaps I could find inspiration for them in a YA graphic magazine or at the makeup stand at the drugstore. Or more likely in my very own closet.

That's very interesting. My first thought was that perhaps a part of the success of amazon.com lies in the feng-shui of its site. Amazon always seems so much easier to use than most library websites. So I took a look at the Amazon home page and was surprised to see very little black: other than the black logo, it's all white, orange and blue.

I think a black background can work well, or big chunks of black (sidebars, etc). I'd recommend that you avoid the black/mustard yellow/ketchup red scheme that Wired magazine used 5 years ago. Worst. Design. Ever.

Oh my! That Wired site is pretty scary. Definitely don't go there.

You might want to try a walk through the junior department at your local department store. When my group created a website in Resources for Young Adults we used pink and green, because that was all the rage in our local Macy's and Strawbridge's. (Mind you that was more than three years ago so I am sure the colors du jour have changed.)
